I was always able to backup until my data went over approximately 500 meg. Now when the backup is running it times out. I checked the Express settings and all timeout parameters are set at 60 seconds. But the backup times out at about 30 seconds.
The message is

Backup failed for Server 'MYEXP\SQLEXPRESS'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.Smo)
